My name is Ann, and I’m proud to say that I was honored as Tour Conductor of the Year for 2006 at Old Town Trolley Tours of Boston!
I joined the CAST of Old Town Trolley of Boston July of 2000, but I didn’t come alone. My husband Bud also became a tour conductor at the same time. (We married October of 2000.)
I had driven a school bus for 20 years and a coach bus for 4 years, and loved both jobs. I remember sitting up on the Tobin Bridge stuck in traffic, looking down into the Charlestown Navy Yard and thought, “I’ve never been there, but someday I will.” I also saw a trolley in the Navy Yard, and knowing my present job would be ending soon, I thought the idea of doing historic tours in Boston might be fun.
One day coming through the city, I took down the phone number off the back of a trolley, and had Bud call. We “auditioned” a few days later, and have been to the Charlestown Navy Yard thousands of times since, as well as many other places not only in Boston but on charters to places I’d never have gone to otherwise.
When I give tours of Boston, what I try to focus on is my pride for the city. It’s such a beautiful and historic place and everyone should see it. The comfort and safety of the guests is also very important to me. I try to make sure everyone has a safe and enjoyable tour.
Bud and I both love our jobs, as well as the people who work here. The one thing all new people say when they join the company is how great everyone is to work with, and it’s true!
